The importance of a calibrated monitor
Colours that are not showing right? Red is too bright, blue is too dim and small amounts of grey aren’t noticeable? When you’re a designer you’ve probably run into the problem that display screens have.
Every LCD will have a different set of colour schemes that aren’t quite the ones you want. There’s a solution for that though! Calibrate your monitor. By calibrating it you can set the colour scheme you think fits your requirements the best. Get the contrast and brightness right and you’re off!

There’s also some automated hardware available that can calibrate the screens. For example – the new Spider 4 Elite I used on my work screens. It made the colors less bright, more realistic and I could even see those small amounts of grey.
As a designer that’s what you want or should be wanting! A screen that gets the colours right! It will make design work better and test prints will have less secrets for you. Yup, because even prints and screen get closer together. It will make your life a bit easier. And isn’t that what we all want? We’ll have a lot more time to concentrate on the more creative stuff.
