Combining the right colors

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Recently I have a lot of projects where choosing the right colors is one of the most important step to take. During the process I experienced some annoying difficulty’s in getting the colors just right! After a while searching google I found the website below.  It explains how it’s possible to create different color scheme’s and where to look at when doing it. When reading the page I did some slight modifications throughout the project when looking at color and guess what! Yes, the color scheme was perfect!

Check this website yourself and bookmark it!

Colors and their meanings – Part 3

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Maybe you’ll know, maybe you won’t. But I already wrote the meaning of most colors in two other posts. These however are a bit to long to keep in mind. Therefor it would be easier to have a simple table which explains most colors and shows it in a clear and simple view. Luckily I came across such table when reading a magazine about marketing. It’s so easy in use that I already use it a lot myself.

I will no longer keep you guys waiting. Here’s the table:

Blue Truth, brightness, dignity, status, might
Brown Masculinity, stability, significance
Yellow Energy, joy, spirit, lightness
Yellow green New life, spring, vigor
Grey Boring, tiresomeness, drabness, bulk
Green Fertility, peace, nature
Orange Party, abundance
Purple Royal, wealth, refinement, withheld emotion
Red Danger, love, passion, warmth, flames
Pink love, humor, friendship, loyalty
Violet Clairvoyance, wisdom, spirituality, succes, strength, healing, independence, protection
Wit Light, pure, purity, neatness, emptiness
Black Dead, rebellion, misery, end, elegance, mysterious, revenge

Macworld cover creation

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Browsing the SXC forums I found out a great topic (again from mister deraud ) which shows how a Macworld cover is made. It’s really depressing how much time the photography takes to get a nice photo.

Photoshop and the Liquify Filter

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

As you’ll all know, YouTube is filled with good video tutorials about Photoshop, Flash and anything that might interest you. I’m daily looking at tutorials but somehow I missed this great one. In this tutorial Deke explains how to use the liquify filter in Photoshop.  He explains it quite easy and understandable even for a dutch guy like me.

The liquify filter is widely used to manipulate and retouch photo’s. You all know the Dove commercial where a model is retouched and put on a billboard. You’ll find that video here.
