Below you’ll find this weeks design & photography inspiration. Every week I’ll post an article which covers the inspiration I’ve found on different websites. By doing this, I want to influence my creative side and develop it even further. Hopefully it will inspire you too!
1. Best of glowing night photography

These photo’s are all taken between dusk and dawn, night. By using just the right settings these photo take just about enough light to get this glow effect. You really need a top notch camera for this I believe. Truly wonderful.

It’s funny how you can miss something when looking right at it. Yesterday I had my weekly day at school and we always grab a bite at the local shopping center (Presikhaaf in Arnhem). When walking through the shopping mall I saw a set of photographs printed on Canvas. Women were subject in all of them. When I saw that I thought, wow cool! But didn’t payed a lot of attention to it further.
Today a fellow student, Maarten Kleyne, reminded me of these great set of photo’s again. Turns out the set is far more beautiful than I thought that they were yesterday. The artist, Magdalena Heijting, did a good job with this exposition. You should take a look at her website which features the whole set! I think this certainly inspires some more of you.

Yes it really is! Last week I had a nice vacation. The weather was good, myself and the misses are doing terrific and I finally had some time to get into some creative stuff again. Mostly I went out and photographed a lot of objects. You can find a few here and here. It seems this only happens during a period of free time, like vacation.
How could that be?
Well, the ability to relax after a period of work certainly helps a lot. It seems that being in a relaxed mood helps you find the right source of inspiration. Even the water tap or shower can be inspiring. Don’t believe that? Then you should have a look at your own tap…..looks like a face doesn’t it?
A very fun thing to see was the ability to find inspiration in almost every thing I encountered. From a newly constructed bridge, to a crowded city and the annual Queensday parties in Eindhoven. It seems that when your mind is clear you can do anything you want with it. And that’s cool! Because it gives you the inspiration boost you need once in a while.

1. Photography by Rachmad Sofyan

This photographer, Rachmad Sofyan, inspired me with the way he makes use of lightning and effects. Really cool and epic shots, especially the above one.

Images, especially photographs, give a clearer view of what is meant by the designer. One good photo can replace a hundred lines of text! You just have to be sure you’re using a relevant picture.
Every designer knows this – the power an image has over words. Although words are generally pretty self explanatory whilst images aren’t, I still prefer to use an image instead of text. With this blog post I want to explain my relation to photography and the level of importance it has to me.
Relevance is important
Yes! This should be logical for all designers! If a photo isn’t relevant to your design, it won’t give you the end result you intended. The power of photography can diminish when it doesn’t have a good relevance to the rest of the assets in your design. So, having a great photo doesn’t mean it will positively influence the design.
