This evening I was browsing the web (yep again) and found this great tutorial. It gave me a whole new meaning of the usage of Illustrator. I normally use it to design logo’s in vector after I created them in Photoshop (hm, maybe I should turn that procedure upside down).
It gave me a very arty impression. I have the same type of artwork hanging on the wall only mine is really painted by an painter (logical isn’t it?). Of course I tried it out myself but found out it’s costing me way to much time to make this in a few minutes so this is also going into a state of delay.

Today I got two new screens and god they are beautiful. 22 inches wide and sharp does get a new definition with these two. And that’s not all! I got a new desktop to. When I unpacked it, it was quit smaller as the desktop I was working with already, but man when I saw and heard the specs I was shocked. A quad core CPU with 8 GB of memory accompanied with a nice video card! Man Creative Suite won’t even get a slightest idea of what happened
. Photoshop will open like notepad on a “normal” desktop. Unfortunately I still have to wait a little bit to work with it, because it has to be installed with the right OS and stuff like that! No worries do, I’m patient enough to wait. See a impression below.

Today I was ordered to design a logo for a product we are planning to put on the market. Therefor I can’t tell you a lot about it.
Anyway, when designing the logo I ran short off good idea’s and concepts. Someone however came with the idea to try a new style of designing. Not the simple and clean approach but a more kind of arty approach. Me getting a bit nervous of the idea (it isn’t exactly the style I like most you know) began to make a test design about a brand who makes tasty drinks
. I finished it just a few moments ago. Oh yeah! I ain’t that pleased about the used font either, will fix that in a later stadium.
And here it is! Keep in mind it is the first try of this new style. I got all the graphics from SXC and used a letter explosion which I got through a magazine that came with a handy DVD full of free stock photo’s and vector packs!

The last few months I keep hearing about Mash Ups and what they can do. In short it’s just a page which uses technology from other web services and sort of combines them on one. Take Google Maps for example. Use this tool to show visitors where they can find your products or to show them news at the location it happened. This would be a nice mash up in my opinion.
Wikipedia shows a very nice explanation and links to up to date documentation. I Quote:
In web development, a mashup is a web application that combines data from more than one source into a single integrated tool. The term Mashupimplies easy, fast integration, frequently done by access to open APIs and data sources to produce results data owners had no idea could be produced. An example is the use of cartographic data from Google Maps to add location information to real-estate data, thereby creating a new and distinct web service that was not originally provided by either source.
Of course it goes a lot further then I stated above. However for that you’ll need a lot of programming experience. And it will be hard to make a professional mash up. I know this is new to the web, but developing goes quickly and new mash ups are launching as we speak.

Something entirely different then my last few posts. No tutorial this time or a portfolio update, just my perspective on things that are currently happening or like I like to state don’t happen at all. First of all, I really don’t get all the panic around this so called credit crisis. Most of the people are having the same problem as I have. Okay, due to large investments to people who can’t pay it back the trouble started, but where’s the trust. I mean filter out all the rotten apples and make a fresh start! The company’s that survive the filtering do earn that trust. Of course it isn’t that black and white but it probably should be! » Continue Reading: Please give me some credit guys!
